So many of us probably new this wonderful man. Who made me feel welcome, when I was a complete outsider when I went to Fort Junior High in Gr. 8. He happened to be one of the most memorable teachers I ever had that left a lasting impression in my soul. I mourn for his family and all the other children whose lives he affected in such a positive way. I don't know if I am allowed to publish this but I want all of us who new him to be able to remember him. I spoke to the secretary where he was last teaching at Glen Allen Elementary in Sherwood Park and she said a memorial fund has been started at the Stollery. This was published in today's paper. I am so deeply saddened by this loss.

Beloved prankster, teacher dies at 52

'I don't know a child who didn't love the man,' who had a nickname for every student.

Don Snow loved a good prank.

He once packed a fellow teacher's classroom with more than 100 coffee mugs, gluing some to the desk, the ceiling and children's chairs.

Another teacher arrived for the first day of school to find her classroom door covered with quarantine tape and sand on the floor, along with an official-looking note that stated the room was closed due to an ant infestation.

Not that Mr. Snow often admitted to his pranks -- sometimes weeks in the making -- usually offering a shrug and small grin if questioned about his involvement.

"He always had that sixth sense about when it was time to cut loose and be silly," said Bonnie Hunka, principal of Glen Allan Elementary School, who knew Mr. Snow for 25 years.

Donald Cyril Snow, a beloved teacher who taught kindergarten to Grade 12 classes in Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan and Ardrossan for three decades, died on March 16 from complications related to a medical procedure. He was 52.
